It's no surprise that this is my favorite moment of the year. Even though some great horses had been close before to win all three races, it just hasn't been meant to be since 1978 when Affirmed won. In a way its fitting that American Pharoah's birthday is February 2nd... Groundhog Day.
Admittedly I was not on the Pharoah bandwagon until the Belmont. I thought he was beatable in both the Derby and the Preakness. In the former I was almost right. However he truly showed that he was a special horse and like Larry Colmus said in the final few yards of the Belmont he was "The One".
The question will be, when/if will we see another Triple Crown. I'm not sure if it's going to be next year, but excited to what it will bring.
