Note: This is a new series that will be posted twice a month where I will give updates on where graduates of a certain race are now, weather it be at stud/broodmare duty, second career or have passed away. Please note that some of this information may end being incorrect. If it is, please tweet to me at furlong drive (without the spaces of course) and I will have it fixed ASAP. Thank you.
On Twitter last week I posted a poll on what would you like to see as the next Where are They Now post. It was between the 2005 Goodwood and the 2001 Met Mile. The latter won the poll. So here are where the horses are now:
Exciting Story- Never won a stakes race again after the Met Mile, although he was second in the 2002 Virgil Stakes. Was euthanized in 2004.
Peeping Tom- Participated in the BC Sprint that year and won the 2002 Moseley and 2003 LeVine. Retired in 2006 after a runner up finish in an Allowance/Optional Claimer.
Alannan- Finished third in the 2001 Forego and participated in that year's Sprint. Started his stud career in Australia before moving to Vietnam.
Blade Prospector- His second and final US win later that year in an Allowance. Returned to his native Brazil where he stands/stood (?).
Bevo- Career finale. Sadly passed away from foundering later that year.
Trippi- Made one more career start where he finished third in an Allowance. As a sire he has G3 winner Gourmet Dinner, G1 winner R Heat Lightning and G3 winner Miss Macy Sue (thus making him the broodmare sire of this year's BC Dirt Mile winner Liam's Map). Now standing in South Africa.
Cat's at Home- Won the 2002 Skip Away (Monmouth) and Iselin. His progeny include stakes winner Spread the News. Passed away in 2007.
Left Bank- Won the Vosburgh and Cigar Mile that year as well as participated in the Sprint. 2002 was a spectacular year with wins in the Bold Ruler, Tom Fool and Whitney, with lone loss a 5th in the Met Mile and was named Champion Older Male. Sadly that honor was posthumous as he passed away from complications of colic surgery in October of that year.
Traditionally- He would never finish in the top 3 of another race. Has stood all over the world and now stands in Morocco. His full brother Our Emblem would sire the 2002 KY Derby winner (War Emblem) and his 1/2 sister My Flag's daughter Storm Flag Flying would win the 2002 BC Juvenile Fillies.
Exchange Rate- In career finale would win the Tom Fool defeating Peeping Tom. Originally standing in FL, he is the sire of G1 winner Ermine, stakes winner in Japan A Shin Gorgeous, and G3 winner Xchanger. He now stands at Three Chimneys in KY.
