You've been Desormouxed!

Once upon a time there where two brothers in Louisiana. The younger brother grew up to be a Hall of Fame jockey and the older brother grew up to be a trainer. Today Keith Desermoux trained his first Triple Crown race winner when Exaggerator won the Preakness. The rider? That would be his brother  Kent. Cherry Wine was second and Nyquist was third after being hounded by Uncle Lino who was vanned off. This marks Curlin's second TC race winner with Palace Malice winning the 2012 Belmont. In addition he becomes the first Preakness winner to sire a winner of the same race since 1999 (Summer Squall was the sire of Charismatic).

As for Nyquist, he was hounded the entire way around after not settling. Mario Gutierez is going to critized for the ride, but honestly what was he going to do? Horses will do sometimes what they want to do. Yeah first loss, but he is the first Derby winner to lose and hit the board since Animal Kingdom's runner up finish in 2011.

Now the TC drought is 1 year. That's a little weird to say after waiting 37. It will be interesting with what the attendance of the Belmont is going to be.

I will discuss what else happened at Pimlico in a post on Monday.
